With the Sudanese civil war going full swing during spring 2023, a lot of countries sent-in forces to conduct a non-combattant evacuation operation (NEO). Most of the press scrutiny was towards the US, UK, French and German parts of the whole engagement, with offered a good view at some of the newly issued accessories within the Royal Marines Commando.
LLM MK3 VarioRay
While in no point new at the time, the operation offered quite a good look at the LLM MK3 (Rheinmetall VarioRay) attached on both long L119A2 and short L119A1. The latter becoming a rarer sight nowadays is seen here sporting an EOTECH 552 and G33 magnifier combo.

ARILLS
This was the very first time that the ARILLS (Assault Rifle In-Line Low Light Sight) gets spotted on operation, here on a 15.7″ L119A2.
Interestingly, all the A2 used during this operation by commandos had the normal bird cage flash hider, as opposed to UKSF L119A2 that get the suppressor compatible Surefire FH556-216A.

As of posting, there is still no replica available of the ARILLS. The only one in existence belonging to Japanese airsofter Toyohide Miyaki (@toyohidemiyaki on Instagram) who 3D modeled and printed his.

And finally, it’s always a pleasure to catch a glimpse of my favourite sniper rifle on the field.
