Deadbird and loving it

It doesn’t show much but I’m a massive backpack nerd (says the guy who once posted about the enormously huge rucksack he uses for storage in his mancave). And as such, I’m always on the lookout for the newer stuff, be it military, travel or just as an everyday carry bag.

Recently the Special Boat Service got spotted during a CT exercise in Warrington. It’s pretty much the usual stuff with mixed multicam and civvies but with a couple very cool multicam packs.

First of which is the Arcteryx Assault pack 30L (left). A neat little pack with loads of ways to organize your stuff inside. I can’t recommend it enough as a carry-on pack for air travel (and of course I owned one what did you expect ?).

Unfortanetly I can’t say the same of the Deuter Alpine Guide 35+ in its Multicam variant that Brigantes brought to the market back in 2018. While knowing a few cool kids got some I was more interested in snatching cooler C2R bits in that time. But that’s for another story.

Sighting the guide

You’ve guessed it, the Alpine Guide is the second pack spotted during that exercise. As announced by Soldier Systems back then (there are more photos on their article), Brigantes helped Deuter bring their Alpine Guide 35 into the military world by turning it full camo while still boasting its X-frame back system and removable hip belt.

The lower grab handle and hip belt loop are some of the defining traits of the pack.
The Alpine Guide features a side zip for enhanced access to its contents. (photo credits to Soldier Systems).

Foreword

After years of posting my nitpicking on cloning real rifles and reenacting specific regiments on multiple social media platforms, it was time that I regroup it all in one place.

You'll find here everything I posted about on my Instagram : clone projects, kits, in the wild spotting and books I've read.

As a bonus, there will be a few complete guides on specific familly of rifles.
