- The Sniper System in SACTARASS
The SACTARASS L2A1 is the closest thing to a lego set within the UKSF armories. The modularity is reflected in its very own name : Semi Automatic Counter Terrorism Assault Rifle and Sniper System. Issued in three barrel lenghs and two handguard sizes, the combinations are endless.
By far the least photographed on publicly available media, the 20″ L2A1 is one huge stick to carry around. Yet, since it only required a barrel extention to get the correct lengh, I couldn’t see any drawbacks on building my own extra long L2A1.

Let’s face it, the 16″ L2A1 is already one hell of a long beast. Suppressor attached, it’s nearly on par in lengh with the unsuppressed L115A3. The 20″ goes way beyond that. As a joke, I used to say that you have to photograph it from the International Space Station to get the whole picture sight. Holding and shouldering it feels more like a 19th century soldier hauling his Pattern 1851 Enfield rifle than a modern operator.

Otherwise, there isn’t much to say about it as it’s usually kitted in the same way as the 16″ variant. The only difference that could filter through photos has been the sporadic appearances of the AN/PVS-22 night sight.
I kept the side mounted canted RMR sight as it’s a credible use, and the Kryptek sprayed L2A1 seems to show worn paint on it’s usual emplacement.
