Every precision rifle nerd out there knows that sniper competitions are the place to be to witness all the cool stuff issued by armies around the world. The 2023 ISC was no exception.
The sniper team from 1st Battalion of the Mercian regiment offered some real eye candy by bringing an L115A4 with them.

The CES also seems to have evolved since the last sighting of the A4:
- Spuhr scope mount with LRF top rail
- Wilcox Industries RAPTAR-S
- Excelitas Technologies Qioptiq PHOENIX-S
Like all the other AX rifles, the L115A4 can feature a canted picatinny rail from receiver to the end of the handguard for a better alignment between optics and sights.

Used by UKSF for almost a decade now, the A4 has still yet to get issued in quantities to the rest of the British army despite being planned for years now. The MoD even considered using old L115A3 refitted into new AX chassis as a fleet upgrade. The plan seems to have been binned altogether considering Project SHAMER was launched in spring 2025 as a competition to replace the L115A3.
